****SOLD****This diadem crown was designed to be seen from a distance with an extra tall center point. The crown is cast in brass/metal which has been gilded. The very delicate cutwork design depicts two flowing festoons of flowers which curve from the bottom band upward to meet the star. Two large flowers flank the festoons. The center of the flowers are embellished with large, faceted ruby colored glass stones. At the empty center point between the festoons a large (1 1/8") oval faceted (bezel set) amber glass stone is set. The star measures 1 3/4" tall. It is encrusted with a ruby colored center glass stone and nine (missing the tenth stone) clear glass stones. The band diameter measures 5" x 5 1/2".
It is in good antique condition: The support to the star at the back has been reinforced at some point in time (a bit of solder at the top). The large and small stones are original to the piece. The patina is still bright with light spotting at the band (can be polished). Slight irregular bends to band as is typical with age and use. It measures 3 1/2" tall at the center point cascading downward to 1 1/2" tall at each flower.
It is a lovely bit of history from the French theater.
