This item has SOLD**Antique 19th Century French Standing Bronze and Gilded Brass Reliquary Ex Voto

***THIS ITEM HAS SOLD***With a beautiful eight sided rosette face, it is a glorious example. It originates from a French collection found in Holland and dates towards 1910.

The reliquary box has a gilded brass crown of thorns placed upon a yellow silk wafer. The box has a gilded brass back door and a glass wafer frontal inset. Surrounding the box is a sunken channel which holds six turquoise cabochon stones. The channel has hand scored medallions between each stone. There are two raised bands of half globes on either side of the channel. The rosette is filled by gilded cast figural roses. The flowers and leaves are very detailed and curve realistically into the open field. There is a cross rising from the top. The wide stand, created to rest securely on an altar or devotional table, has a central globe at the center of the stem.

It measures: 12" tall, the rosette 5" in diameter, the central reliquary box 1 1/4" in diameter, the reliquary box and the turquoise stone surround 2 5/8" in diameter, the reliquary box is 1/2" thick. The base of the support is 4 3/4" in diameter.

It is in very good antique condition. We have not polished it as we appreciate the glowing patina; it could be polished to a more brilliant hue. It is an unusual standing reliquary ex voto.
