Precious Small Antique Santos Crown

NOTE: This listing for crown only; the statue is used as a size reference and is not for sale.

Once adorning a beautiful Santos statue of the Virgin Mary, this diadem crown has a small but impressive presence. It originates from the Champagne region of France and dates circa 1880.

The face has a central flower which is flanked by arabesques, half globes and stylized acanthus leaves. The bottom band (can be adjusted by bending the band ends to smaller or larger circumference) is adorned with repeating diamond shapes which form small rosettes at the center. It is cast from a mix of brass and bronze and it has been heavily gilded. It has a row of grey pearl beads mounted on a wire wrapped around the base; this is an added adornment specific to it's previous use.

It measures: 1 1/2" tall at the front center, cascading down to 1/2" tall at the back; 2" diameter and 6" in circumference. It is in very good antique condition.

Small crowns such as this a rare.
