Antique Belgian Domed Christ Child Religious Santos Crown

An rare domed (shape is usually round) Christ Child crown, it would have been used within a private home altar space. It originates from Belgium and dates circa 1850.

The body is gilded cast and hand worked bronze/brass. The design is elaborate with half globes, “C” scrolls and acanthus leaves. The six teardrop bands are each set with a large single faceted ruby glass oval stone, surrounded by clear glass stones. Ruby and emerald glass faceted stones are at the center of the beautiful flowers at the bottom band. The fleur de lis are each set with three clear glass stones. The globe at the crown ( representing the world) has a maltese cross (Christ) at the top with a central emerald glass stone.

There are a few slight irregular bends to the metal as is typical with age and use. It is a heavy piece despite it's light appearance. It measures: 6 “ tall, 11” circumference at the widest middle, 9 3/4 circumference at the bottom band ( mounting bar across the center). It is 3” across the bottom opening.

We sell the crown only in this listing, the angel is available in a separate listing.
