Rare TINY Gilded Brass French Santos Religious Crown

A rarely found size (the small crowns were usually made for specific statues), it is a magnificent example which measures 3/4" tall. It originates from a Parisian collector and dates circa 1900. The small gilded crown is of particular rarity and is specific to France only (Italian and Spanish silver examples are far more numerous).

It is cast in bronze/brass which has been heavily gilded. The lower band is 1/4" wide with a ribbed textured background and row of raised dots above.
There are "large" two dimensional stars which are mounted to a double arabesque below. Each star has a bezel set, faceted clear rhinestone mounted beneath it. There are fleur de lis which alternate with each double arabesque mount.

The measurements are: 3/4" tall, 1 1/2" diameter, 5 3/4" circumference. It is in good antique condition in consideration of age and delicate nature: light verdis gris in places, missing star and stone mount in center (see photos).

The miniature crowns did not exist in large quantities, therefore there are very few that have survived the passage of over 100 years. It is an exquisite work of devotional art and a delicate, brilliantly gilded French Christ Child crown.
