THIS ITEM IS SOLD*** Antique 19th Century French Gilded Brass Sacred Heart Ex Voto w/ Figural Madonna and Child

**This item has sold.** The raised figures of the Madonna and Christ Child are magnificently executed. This precious ex voto originates from a fine religious collection found just outside of Paris. It dates towards 1880.

It is a small "pendentif" (to wear as a pendant) example. The heart is of gilded brass which has a very radiant patina. Upon the face, the Madonna and Christ Child rest at the center. They are delicately detailed with flowing robes and facial details. The Madonna's hand is outstretched outward entreating the wearer of the voto to prayer. There are two large festoons of palm fronds to the left and right; each are hand tooled with tiny stripes (which achieves a textural appearance). The voto opens to reveal a brilliant gilt patina. Each half of the heart is marked with a model number, "IV". There is a ring at the top for threading a ribbon or chain.

It measures: 1 1/8" x 1 1/8"'; 1 1/2" thick. It is in very good antique condition with brilliant patina. We have not polished it; it could be polished to an even brighter hue.

It is a rare small example (tiny votos do not survive in the antiques market) with devotional art upon the face.
