This item has SOLD**Antique Nineteenth Century French Sacred Heart Ex Voto

***THIS ITEM HAS SOLD***A very elegantly engraved Sacred Heart, it is a rare "flat back" example (does not open). It originates from a large sacred heart collection in Paris.

The brilliant patina has the most luminescent hue of gold. There is a block style engraved monogram at the center, "AM" Ave Marie. There are beautifully engraved lily flowers and leaves which curve along the right and left sides. The lily flowers are especially detailed, including the tiny stamen at the centers. There is a large engraved ribbon bow at the center front, joining the two lilies together.

The flame is deeply grooved. The flat back has a bail with a chain link threaded through for hanging or wearing on a chain. There are two mount receptors on the back into which a small nail could have fit through to hold the heart on a plaque or against a wall.

It measures: 4 1/8" tall, 2 1/8" wide and 3/8" thick. It is in very good antique condition, some light scratching to the face typical of age and wear (not readily noticeable); two slight indentations on the side mid edges of the back from hanging against a hard surface.

We do not find this type of sacred heart often. It is a marvelous example which could be used in devotion or worn with a chain.
