**This item has sold.** Such a charming and delicate accessory, it would have graced the head of a beautiful bride. It originates from the south of France and dates towards 1890.

The gilded brass frame is 1/4" wide. It is wrapped with very fine creme colored lace. The flowers and birds are of gilded brass. They were cast in molds and have lovely detailing. The two birds (symbolizing the bride and groom) each hold a wreath of roses in their beaks. Each of the ten large flowers have detailing of leaves and center stems. Each individual leaf and bird are attached to the brass ring by a wire, which enables them to be adjusted and moved according to the wishes of the wearer.

It measures: 6 3/4" in diameter, the leaves 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", the birds 3 1/4" long (including wreath) and 1 3/4" wide. It is in very good antique condition with exquisitely brilliant patina to the gilded brass. The lace has darkened with age as is typical.

It is always a delight to find special examples such as this, which have been cherished and saved for so many years; a beautiful representative of a blessed ceremony filled with love.
