THIS ITEM HAS SOLD*** Antique 19th Century Gilded Bronze French Religious Santos Crown

***This item has sold*** This is a fine authentic antique example, in cast bronze which has been gilded. It originates from the south of France and dates towards 1860.

The tightly woven design combines arabesques, acanthus leaves and scrolls in an alternating pattern of looped ribbons and flower shapes. Eight large stars rise from the looped ribbons. Each star is set with a very large clear glass stones and both small and medium glass stones. Between each star is a stylized fleur de lis set with clear glass stones. The center front star has a brilliant blue stone (for Mary). There is a wide band at the bottom for attaching to a Santos statue.

2 1/4" tall, 3" in diameter, 11" in circumference. It is in very good antique condition: it is solid, the gilt patina remains, all stones are present, the structure and shape remain good.

It is a breathtaking Santos crown, one of fine quality, which would have once graced a beautiful Madonna.
